The World’s First Plant-Based Durable Bottles Have Launched on Kickstarter

ZAZA Bottles are the first refillable water bottles made from a plant-based polymer. They’re also the only customizable ones as they promote a fusion of fashion & sustainability. The Prague-based startup launched their Kickstarter campaign today.

Consumers all across the globe drink up to 300 000 000 000 litres of bottled water annually, which results in 647 000 tonnes of plastic waste. Not only is this greatly unsustainable, it’s also mostly unnecessary.

Zuzana Cabejskova, the founder of ZAZA has long been involved in the topic of sustainable hydration. She started an NGO called Czech The Tap in 2010 to promote tap water among Czech restaurants and citizes. The NGO’s blind-tasting experiments were a huge success: “Over 2 thousand people participated and 80% couldn’t tell the difference between tap and bottled water.”

WATER BOTTLESCabejskova already knew tap water tastes good. “It has a different problem though: it’s kind of grey and boring, there is no story to it,” she explained. “To make it more fun and exciting, I came up with the idea of a customizable water bottle that matches one’s outfit and mood.”

As an Industrial Ecologist, Zuzana Cabejskova also insisted that the bottle be assustainable as possible. “We’re introducing the first plant-based bottle to really show we’re serious about circular economy. The transparent part is made of a 50% bioC PA and we’re still looking for a supplier for the non-transparent parts, preferably that would be a close-to 100% bioC solution.”

ZAZA Planet is fundraising on Kickstarter in order to finance molds and initial material orders. Global renowned artists have created limited Kickstarter editions of the bottles to support the campaign. Custom business designs are also available upon request – you can get in touch via drink.from@zazabottles.com for enquires!(KL)
