Demeta strengthens management team with three heavyweight appointments

Demeta S.A.S, a Rennes, France-based company specialized in the development of new generation catalysts for green chemistry, has announced that it has added three new members to its management team.

The appointments have been made, said the company, as part of its strategic plan, which is focused on the commercialisation of its high performance NexTene resins.

Gilles Aubagnac is Demeta’s new Chief Financial Officer. Gilles brings 25 years of mexperience in financial roles within high-growth private and public companies to his new role. After 7 years as auditor at Ernst & Young (France and US), Gilles held CFO positions at Netgem (IPO in 2000), VideoFutur (IPO in 2010), Lucibel (IPO in 2014) and, more recently at Solex Group/Easybike. Gilles Aubagnac graduated from the Ecole Supérieure de Gestion of Paris.

cRalph Hedel has been appointed Chief Commercial Officer at Demeta. Ralph started his career at Arcelor (US) as business developer in the specialty steel division. He then moved to Sca packaging (now DS Smith) where he worked as sales and plant manager, before joining Telene, a leading producer of poly-DCPD resins, 12 years ago. As Head of Sales and Marketing EMEA at Telene, he gained a thorough knowledge of this market. At Demeta, he will be tasked with accelerating the commercial development of the company’s NexTene resins. Ralph Hedel graduated from the IPAG Paris.

Sylvain Allain, the newly appointed Chief Operations Officer is a graduate from the Ecolem des Mines de Nancy. He started his career in the automotive industry, and quickly moved to Telene S.A.S, where he became Deputy Technical Director, in charge of applications development, customer technical support, pilot hall and product qualification. At Demeta, Allain will oversee all activities related to toll-formulation, applications development, product development, and product qualification.

“I am very pleased that DEMETA is able to attract such experienced professionals,” said Patrick Piot, Chief Executive Officer at DEMETA. “The addition of Ralph Hedel (Chief Commercial Officer) and Sylvain Allain (Chief Operations Officer) will be key to enter our strategic markets: RIM body panels for construction and agricultural equipment, oil & gas and high performance composite materials.”

The 12 principles of Green Chemistry are at the core of Demeta's DNA. With its first technology platform (Olefin Metathesis), Demeta is engaged in the commercialisation of its proprietary NexTene resins, a new family of high performance materials, with a focus on 4 different markets: complex parts produced by RIM processing, oil & gas, composites materials and specialty adhesives. The focus of the second technology platform is on the development of precursors for bio-based polyesters, polyamides and specialty lubricants produced from oleic acid (and other alkenes), by polymetallic catalysis, in partnership with University Rennes 1 through the GreenCARE joint R&D lab.
